Buttercups and Blue Herons

My last entry was right - I did go for an afternoon ride. First time this season that I made it all the way to the Botanical Garden. The yellow buttercups are blooming everywhere - I took some pictures at Caldwell Woods - but nothing close up. The nights come later and that is wonderful giving me more time to ride - the weather has been pretty lousy this spring - yesterday morning I went for a short ride - just to and around Caldwell Woods and I ended up getting caught in the rain - but that's ok - the rain never hurt anyone.

Three Rides

I've been for four rides so far this season and have not blogged a single one. One was so cold that I will admit I couldn't wait to turn around and come home. Tonight it is warm again - so I suspect that I'll be riding.

Three bucks and two bits

Ok -- I saw three (very young) bucks today in my late afternoon ride -- the sun was coming down and I hope I got some good shots, but you never can tell. I rode from Caldwell Woods to the Garden and back. I must confess I told a lie on the trail today -- I saw a young couple riding with a small (about 1 year) child in a back chair. I told them that they were giving out $150.00 fines for children less than 14 not wearing helmets. Ok -- it is against the law but I have no idea what the fine is -- I've just seen two accidents with kids over the years and I can't believe it that parents would put their kids at risk like that -- but I suppose that was a pretty self-righteous thing to do -- and I felt bad -- but they did sound like they were going to buy a helmet the minute they got home, so...

27 miles at 11.0 mph.

Raising the Seat

So I figured it was time to raise the seat to the point where I can't even stop without tipping over... So that's what I did. And I rode all the way from Caldwell to the Garden and back -- took some pictures -- not too much wildlife - lots of friendly people though. I forgot to mention that yesterday I saw a large bird grab a large dragon fly (or a small hummingbird) in midfllight with its claws. Nothing like that today -- just an early morning 8:00 ride.

A Sense of Where You Are

I went out for a ride today -- my first in nearly three weeks (a combination of colds and vacations). I was in such a rush -- I forgot my biker shorts -- but I did remember my new GPS. It is not the kind that tells me where I am -- but when I download my pictures later -- it will mark where each picture was taken. And that I'm very excited about -- and I thought that was enough.
